How the AI works

Short version: every conversation and every score on Social Reps is generated by AI. You are never talking to a real person, and no human reads or grades your reps.

The other person is AI, not a real human

The person you text with in a rep is a character played by an AI language model, software trained to generate text, not a real human on the other end, and not a digital version of any specific real person. Their replies are generated in response to what you type, so no two conversations play out the same way.

Its behavior is generated, not scripted line-by-line

When a scenario partner gets bored, uncomfortable, or decides to leave the conversation, that's the AI generating a reaction based on the conversation so far, not a human moderator watching and pressing a button. The AI is steered toward acting like a person would in that scenario, but it is still a model producing text, not an actual mind. It can misread a message, react in a way a real person wouldn't, or repeat itself.

Scoring is also AI-generated

The scores and feedback you get on opening, listening, reading interest, respect, humor, and leaving well are produced by AI reading back over the conversation. It's meant to be a useful, consistent read on how the conversation went, not a certified, clinical, or professional assessment of your social skills, and it won't always get it right.

What this is for

Social Reps is meant to be a low-stakes place to practice a conversation before a real one, including the parts that are hard to practice anywhere else, like someone losing interest or a conversation ending badly. It isn't a substitute for real relationships, real feedback from people who know you, or professional support when that's what's actually needed. See If you're struggling for real resources.

Worth repeating

Nothing you read on this page describes a released product yet. The app isn't live. This explains how the AI is designed to work once it is, so there's no surprise about what you're talking to.
